Maria Angela Hernandez, 79, of Portland, formerly of Uvalde, died on May 27, 2024, at Coastal Palms Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born on March 6, 1945, in Uvalde to Andrea Reyes and Benito Gonzales.
She is survived by her husband, Cesar Hernandez of Portland; three sons, Joe Anthony Hernandez and wife, Alicia, of San Antonio, Cesar Hernandez Jr. and wife, Mari, of Japan, and Dennis Hernandez and wife, Mary, of Uvalde; daughter, Jennifer Hernandez Wood and husband, Scott, of Portland; two sisters, Dora Mendoza and husband, Ruben, and Mary Helen Reyes and husband, Michael, all of Illinois; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Benito Gonzales Jr.; two sisters, Lydia Garcia and Maria Herlinda Adams; and grandson, Nicholas Rey Hernandez.
Visitation was held on May 29 at Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home where a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. A Mass was celebrated on May 30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jaime Gracia, Dennis Hernandez Jr., Ariel “Poncho” Moncada, Mark Gonzales, Adrian Gonzales and Joe Hernandez II.
