This BANG BANG Cauliflower Recipe is Keto Friendly and low carb. It is ideal appetizer or side dish for people on the Keto Diet.

I absolutely love the flavor of bang bang sauce and have been eating Bang Bang Shrimp from Bone Fish Grille for years. After doing some research, I found out that the breading on the bang bang shrimp is made with corn starch.

Corn Starch is terrible for the Keto Diet because it is full of carbs. I did not some experimenting to see what breading would work the best and still be low carb.

We made some yummy cauliflower pieces breaded and dipped in bang bang sauce. These crispy baked cauliflower bites are sweet and spicy and even gluten free.

  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Paprika
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Eggs
  • Cauliflower

  • Keto Sweet Chili Sauce
  • Sriracha
  • Avocado Mayo
  • Green Onions to Garnish

How Many Carbs in the Cauliflower Bites?

Each one of the cauliflower bang bang bites is about 3 net carbs. They have 5 grams of carbs and 2 grams of fiber netting out 3 carbs.

That is not too bad if you don’t eat the whole head of cauliflower. Since cauliflower and almond flour breading is extremely filling, it would be hard to eat the whole thing.

As with most foods on the Keto diet, you can enjoy these bites in moderation.

How to make Low Carb BANG BANG Cauliflower?

Start by mixing the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. You will add the grated parmesan cheese, almond flour, paprika, and salt and pepper.

Next, add the eggs to another small bowl and whisk them together.

Cut the cauliflower head into small cauliflower florets.

Dip the cauliflower florets into the flour mix. Then, dip into the egg.

Finally, dip the cauliflower into the flour mixture again.

Dip the rest of the cauliflower in the same way.

Add the dipped cauliflower into the bottom of the air fryer in a single layer. Don’t pile them up and leave a little bit of space between the cauliflower to let the air flow.

BAKING ALTERNATIVE – If you do not have an air fryer, you can also bake the cauliflower in the oven on a baking sheet for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F.

DEEP FRIED ALTERNATIVE – You can deep fry this plant based cauliflower bang bang.

Making the Bang Bang Sauce

While the cauliflower is cooking in the air fryer, you can make the Bang Bang Sauce.

In a small mixing bowl, mix the sweet chili sauce, mayo, and sriracha until combined.

When the cauliflower comes out of the air fryer dip it into the bang bang sauce until coated. Garnish with diced green onions.

Wine Pairing with Bang Bang Cauliflower

The best wine pairing that I have found for this recipe is this Gallivant Sauvignon Blanc. It is delicious and has low residual sugar only .5 grams per bottle.

The wine pairs extremely well with take out recipes like Chinese Food, Thai Food, and Vietnamese Food. In this case, it pairs well with better than take out recipe. 😉
