Maybe I am being too 'kid gloves' but about 50% of the time the front roof latch misses it's hole and I have to start over.

Any tips? Do I just need to pull the roof harder towards the screen?

This occasionally happens on my 981 though I tend not to be putting the top up and down too much. Suggest you just make sure the roof is fully forward on the windscreen frame and the catch seated before pressing the button - perhaps the folding mechanism is still a bit stiff on a new car. We’re spoilt now with electric roofs but after 10 years with an S1 Elise the Spyder is a doddle ??

It doesn't seem possible to bring the leading edge of the roof foreward of the windscreen frame in order to seat the hook prior to closing. Roof seems too tight. Will it stretch a little with time and get easier?

Thanks!

If the mechanism is the the same as the 981 mine from new was tight. Make sure when closing the the hook is well forward prior to pressing the electric switch which engages the hook up. Failure to do so could result in a grab that does not connect and damage to the car.
More use will see the hood stretch a bit and things will become easier.

Enjoy

No gap between the leading edge of the roof and the windscreen is what I meant. If you leave the roof up then the fabric will stretch over time.

How are you getting on with your 718 Spyder and in particular roof closure? My Spyder arrives later next week so any tips on any issues you have encountered would be appreciated. Thank you

After a few goes it becomes a non-issue 718 Spyder Roof Close tips? (8) Top tip is that if you miss the catch on the first go, don't press open to reset (as it pops the boot again) but re-press the close button and it cycles the latch so you can have another go. Ignore any 'service required' messages on the display as these go away once it is closed. After 5 or 6 goes it becomes very quick and easy to do.

(also: congrats on the new Spyder - exciting! Come and join our Spyder FB group - search for 'Porsche Boxster Spyder (UK)')

Should have bought a 987 Spyder 718 Spyder Roof Close tips? (11)
I had the same issues on the 981 Spyder I had , found if you left the boot unlocked it was easier takes the tension off the roof ,them close the boot when roof was fully closed / locked.
A word off warning to new owners when locking the rear fins into position make sure you hear a definite CLICK if not try again as it had been known for then to come loose and the metal clip will make a right mess off the lid, know of 2 people it happened to.

5 days and 500 miles into Spyder ownership. Great fun at all speeds. Just had a nice 140 mile drive through Wales. What a fantastic car. Met a nice chap in a 911 who was blown away by the noise and poise of my Spyder ??

In relation to the previous discussion the roof mechanism is working just fine ??

I picked up a November 2019 car with 761 miles from Guildford OPC a week ago. Only had a chance to drive it a little on Saturday and there is no way with this weather I'll be getting the roof down this weekend 718 Spyder Roof Close tips? (21)

They are great cars. As soon as the roads dry drop the roof and enjoy. ??
